10 Things I REALLY want for Christmas.
Ah, Christmas. The time of ultimate gifts! Or in my case, GIVING ultimate gifts. To be honest, I don’t want any THING for Christmas. I do what presents though! Let me break it down. As a stay at home mom, there are certain ‘things’ I want. So let’s dig into those. This is only my top 10. I most definitely can think of more!
I want to go to sleep when I feel like it and wake up when my body wants to wake up. If I get up at night I want it to be because I am the one who has to pee… no one else. One good night of sleep on my Own. Damn. Schedule.
A clean house
Husbands everywhere: we don’t care how you do it. Just make the house freaky clean ONCE a year. Hire someone, break out the vacuum yourself, discover magic…. we DO. NOT. CARE. Just clean the damn house. This is a great Christmas present idea…. just sayin’.
A laundry fairy
What’s it like to open your drawer and see clothes you recently wore in there? Who put them there? How did it happen? I want to experience that wonder. Not every day or anything, but for Christmas one load of magic laundry would cut it.
Time to read a book
I have so many books I want to read (Not listen to, actually READ). But I never get more than 5ish minutes to do so. Time to read a book would be like the sweetest cake. Decadent. Indulgent. Ultimate gift.
One good picture (with ME in it!)
I take some awesome pictures of my kids. And I have loads of daddy with the kids. I have selfies with me and the kids. But what I really want is a really great picture of my family. Preferably candid and unplanned, because those are the ones I treasure most. So please, take some pictures with me in them!
Wouldn’t it be amazing to talk about a book? Or current events? Or maybe just our hopes and dreams? Anything really. An uninterrupted conversation that doesn’t revolve around butts, farts, toy guns, or bashing other moms. I’d love a good conversation. And hell, it’s free!
Guilt-free kid-free Time
Babysitters are great. Family members watching kids are great. But what I REALLY want is to just be free for however long I want. Knowing me, it’d be like 2 hours or less, but I want to be ALONE and not feel bad about it. No one touching me, no one needing anything from me, no time constraints. Ideally, this would be in my own home so I could read a book (see above) while not wearing pants. But I’d totally leave the house as needed too.
I am ALWAYS hugging my kids. I’m a hugger. Hugging and telling them how much I love them… All. The. Time. But if they came up to me and told me they had a present for me, and it was a hug, I’d be the happiest person ever! Hugs make a great gift. And if you know that you’re getting that specific hug as a gift?! Yeah, it’s gonna be a damn good hug. So bring on the hugs!
I plan all our meals, every day of every week of every year. It’s exhausting. For once I’d love it if I got a list of 10-15 meal ideas from my family. I’ll still shop for it and cook it… but just not having to figure out every single meal…. that’d be a great gift!! Yes, I have dietary restrictions, yes I am the only one who cooks in this house, and yes I want my kids to eat healthily. But, since we take Juice Plus, I can totally give up a week and make whatever, or eat whatever, or let my kids eat whatever. I just don’t want to have to plan every damn meal.
Just for a little while. Everyone can be home. The house can be a mess. Everything else can be hectic. But just some intentional quiet? Yeah, I’d like that.
Handmade gifts are the bomb. Drawings or crafts from my kids. A note, a meal, an ornament. Anything. I’d much rather having something made by a loved one than an expensive gift any day!
