Ah, yes. Protein powder, shakes, meal replacements drinks, smoothies… whatever you want to call them. I am one of the fluffy people (no shame here people! I love my fluffy self!) and I can tell you that I get told about a different one almost every single day. They are all advertised as miracle cures for my waistline! They’re the best, most amazing tool out there for weight loss! Well… I disagree.
You can lose weight by eating ANYTHING as long as you cut back the calories enough. Instead of just trying to shed pounds, I am focused on feeding my body well. Meaning putting more good stuff in. Simple as that. So what does all of this have to do with Juice Plus Complete? Let me explain.
I do not use Juice Plus Complete for weight loss.
A buh? Nope, you read that right. I do not drink Complete as a weight loss aid. Yes, it CAN help with weight loss, but that’s not how I personally use it. I use it for the actual nutrition it contains. You see, I have two tiny humans that like to make mornings interesting with lightsabers and/or screaming matches. Drinking my morning shake allows me to mom it up while battling the Dark Side or being a referee for a surprise cage match. Using Complete makes my breakfast is fast and easy, but I also know I can get through my workout after school drop off without feeling like death. B
So let’s talk a little more about Complete the Rebekah way. Don’t worry I’ll link the ‘professional way’ too. Why do I use Complete and ONLY C
It’s not just a protein shake
Yes, it has 13 grams of protein, but it also contains lots of planty goodness in their WHOLE form. I like my foods WHOLE. Why? Because they work best in their natural form. Could you run a race as just legs and a head? Maybe, but I bet you’d be a whole lot better if you operated as your WHOLE self. It’s the same way with our food. Taking just the bits and pieces we think are the most important reduces their ability to do their job. So eat the WHOLE food. Complete is a WHOLE food. Have I said WHOLE enough yet? No? WHOLE. There we go.
It doesn’t make my blood sugar too high
It’s no secret that I am a Type 1 Diabetic. Finding a protein shake that was balanced enough so that I wouldn’t have to eat a snack mid workout (because THAT sucks) but that also doesn’t spike my blood sugar insanely high is a challenge. Complete has the right mix of carbs and fiber to fuel my workouts but also not spike my sugars. This is important for everyone though, even if you make your own insulin (Lucky you!) because it keeps your pancreas for working overtime to bring your blood sugar back down. This also make Complete a great option for Type 2 Diabetics and those with insulin resistance.
It’s Gluten Free
Lucky me, I also have Celiac Disease! And while lots of protein powders claim to be safe, they aren’t. Thankfully Complete is NSF certified Gluten Free. So I know it’s safe.
I can’t say that enough. It’s VEGAN. There are no animal products or byproducts in Juice Plus Complete. Personally I’m a carnivore, but any chance I get to decrease my animal product intake… I do it. Especially since all the hormone crap that can be found in milk and milk products. It’s cool though, I’m drinking Diet Coke today, so I’m safe from the evils of milk. (See what I did there? I’m not ridiculous people! I’m a person too!)
But for serious, I love that there’s a safe and healthy protein powder option for my vegan friends. Along with the Omegas, Juice Plus has really taken care of the Vegan community! How cool is that?!
It actually tastes good
Now that we’re past the safety and healthy stuff, know this: It’s the best one I have ever tasted. No, I’m serious! It’s not chalky, it’s not overpowering, and it doesn’t have that weird aftertaste so many powders do. Probably because it’s not fortified with a bunch of random stuff and doesn’t contain heavy metals like so many shakes out there do (Sad but true, guys. That NSF certification matters!)
I wish I had this stuff around while I was pregnant. I’m totally kicking myself now because I didn’t. Breastfeeding too because I had so many food aversions even after giving birth. Oh well, hindsight is 20/20! Oh, and it’s totally safe for both those things btw. WINNING!
A word about soy
Soy is the devil right?! IT’S KILLING THE CHILDREN! No, no it is not. Processed soy is. High fructose corn syrup and corn are not the same
Juice Plus Complete is the best!
